"The rhythmic character of the work provides the performer with a type of "show piece" that would be excellent for a recital or perhaps a college jury performance". Percussive Notes
"Another Town" places us from the first measure, in a tribal universe. Jonathan Haessler, by building more and more complex polyrythmies asks to the performer for a total independence of hands and feet. A particular accent is put on the ' voicing ' (highlight a voice with regard to the other one). The use of timpani mallets give to the tones of skins an original touch where the sweetness and the sensualism contrasts with these enormous accents in the rougher tone. This piece very technical and high-level can be also played by two performers. Educationally, it allows two readings different from the piece.Denis Riedinger
