Dear fellow Timpani percussionists,
We all know that the timpani drummer player inside the orchestra has a primary role. He is the link between the conductor and the musicians.
Nowadays, pupils have the opportunity to play in orchestra classes from the 1st grade. The percussion players start sooner and sooner to learn how to play timpani drums though the literature available is significant but not often adapted to young students.
The following entertaining pieces are a result of 25 years of teaching experience to provide enjoyable music for young percussion students.
Enjoy playing them and always keep in mind the following 3 tips:- keep a good position while playing;- aim for your best sound;- a Timpani player should always look good to watch (ponder about these words!)
Welcome to the fabulous universe of the Timpani…
Dear colleagues,
In order to study the technique, I added some preparation exercises. The fingering are written but not complete. So as to read the music, dynamics have not been mentioned. However, it is expected that you may want to add some.Do not hesitate to use the stage when students are small as it helps them having a better movement while playing.
Happy drumming!
