Introduction to jazz and improvisation for saxophone and wind instruments.

Well-known jazz musician and improviser Michael Alizon teaches jazz and classical saxophone at the Strasbourg Conservatory.

Equally comfortable with both idioms, he has had considerable experience in introducing improvisational techniques to classical wind players.

The method presented in this book has the unique quality of being adaptable to both beginning and more advanced levels of study.

The clearly articulated and step-by-step approach allows the student to progress at his own individual pace, and the wealth of information presented makes this book a valuable reference work designed to accompany the aspiring musician throughout his musical studies.

The student can spend several sessions working on the same lesson while periodically returning to earlier exercises with the intent of reinforcing and developing previously assimilated information.

This method has been designed to integrate jazz and improvisational practice into the mainstream of general music education. The initial chapters are suitable for musicians having had a minimum of three years of instrumental instruction.
